THE COSMIC BEAUTY OF LONLINESS

외로움은 삶의 동반자이며 소통은 갈증의 대상이다. 뙤약볕 아래 홀로 선 채 입은 화상 같은 외로움에 우리는 자신에게 말을 건넨다. 이는 종종 새로운 내면의 진술이 되며, 꽤나 창조적인 발견에 이른다. 그림을 그리는 행위는 내면의 진술과 개인적인 경험을 종이 위에 간직시킨다. 아이러니하게 이 결과물들은 그 난해하던 사람들과의 연결과 소통을 쉬이 해내고 만다. 

작가가 말하는 외로움은 큰소리를 내지 않지만, 절대 단조롭지 않다. 작가는 외로움을 저면하고 그 스펙트럼을 고요히 탐색하며 무심한 선과 부드러운 색상으로 태연히 “Esther Bunny”를 그린다. 캐릭터의 표정과 행동은 사람들의 공감을 자아내며 지극히 개인적일 것만 같던 외로움은 캐릭터들의 제스처들 과 함께 보편적인 공감대를 형성한다. 

이번 전시는 외로움을 다채롭게 표현하며 우리의 감정의 저류와 소통을 동시에 이끌어내는 창조적인 경험을 선사한다.

THE COSMIC BEAUTY OF LONLINESS

Loneliness is a life companion. We thirst for a bond, however. Under the scorching sun, loneliness settles on us like burns. As Esther Kim grabs her colored pencils, she captures inner thoughts and soul searches. Ironically, the relic of loneliness enables the artist to connect and find common ground with people. In “The Cosmic Beauty of Loneliness,” loneliness is low-key, but never monotonous. By gazing at forlornness, the artist explores the spectrum. Esther creates “Esther Bunny” with nonchalant lines on soft paper. The characters' facial expressions and actions evoke sympathy. Esther Bunny transforms loneliness, which seems very personal, into a bridge between people. The artist sees loneliness as a state of high potential and versatility. 'The Cosmic Beauty of Loneliness' explores loneliness in its various forms and examines our inner selves. Silence and communication combine in this exhibition.
