여름방학

어른이 되어서도 "여름방학"이라는 단어는 우리를 설레게 한다. 바쁘고 서툴렀던 계절을 지나 한 해의 절반 무렵, 가장 뜨거운 계절에 주어지는 쉼표 같은 날들.  

 

때론 지키지 못할 계획표를 만들어 보기도 하고, 개학 날짜가 다가와서야 한꺼번에 밀린 일기숙제를 쓰느라 끙끙대기도 하던 우리들. 이제 더 이상 돌아갈 수 없지만, 잊혀지지 않을 기억들로 간직하기 위해 잠시 기억을 거슬러 올라가 본다. 선풍기 바람에 수박향기가 가득히 퍼져 나가던 짧기만 하던 여름방학의 기억 속으로.

Summer vacation

Despite being adults, the word "summer vacation" still excites us. The comma-like days follow almost half a year after the heaviest and busiest season.

 

The summer break plans we used to make never worked out. To complete all summer break assignments at once, we often pulled all-nighters before school began.
Although I cannot return, I reminisce and cherish the memories I have of that time. As the fan blows, the scent of watermelon still lingers from the summer vacation.
