Gallery Ho is pleased to present The Linkage, a two-person exhibition of works by Jin Lee and Véronique Gambier, from July 18 to August 10, 2013. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 18th from 6 – 8 pm. Curated by Liz Kwon, the exhibition focuses on the mutual interest and connection of the seemingly distinct values of the media artists use. The works of Lee and Gambier were selected from Gallery Ho’s “2013 Open Call for Artists.” Following The Linkage, there will be a solo exhibition by Hye Yeon Nam, the winner of the open call.
Lee has been working on white paper in her installations for years. Composed of layers of pieces of intricately cut paper, her work both reveals and hides abstract images of cityscape and landscape of nature. Lee seeks to create a linkage of thousands of pieces endlessly connected to one another. This interaction between paper pieces responds to how people are chained to each other in society. Next to the main installation, framed paper works executed with needles and threads will also be exhibited. Using diluted acrylic, watercolor or ink, Gambier explores color, shape and texture of the different media and focuses on the contrast between light and shadow. Born in the south of
France, she developed a strong sense of color and abstraction in her work. The Little Red Riding Hood series, inspired by a famous fairy tale and monochromatic paintings in various sizes and shapes will be presented in the exhibition.
