After graduating from Seoul Arts High School, Goodmorningtown developed a keen interest in fashion and tattoos. He later became a tattoo artist, deeply immersed in the charm of tattoos. During his career as a tattoo artist, he recognized the impermanence of tattoos and instead chose to express himself through painting, which allowed him to create longer-lasting works that truly reflects his emotions.

 

Goodmorningtown's work centers around the theme of conversation. During conversations with his tattoo clients, he developed a keen interest in how verbal communication can be visually expressed with art. Thus, his work captures the erratic and spontaneous topic shifts that occur during casual conversations. The artist chooses subjects or themes based on the diversity and randomness of conversation, capturing ideas or topics that come to mind during creation. His illustrations are often inspired by everyday elements such as cartoons, movies, and daily conversations.

 

Goodmorningtown’s canvas work and structure were inspired by Old School Tattoos. The elements on the canvas resemble tattoos on a human body and portray everyday conversations or the artist's profound interests. The artist primarily uses acrylic paints because they have a similar texture to the plastic toy figures he collects. He delicately adjusts the thickness of the acrylic paint, adding a three-dimensional effect. The size and thickness of each element vary depending on the subject or level of interest, and the patterns symbolize the softness and tranquility felt during a conversation and help to create a comforting atmosphere overall. 

 

Goodmorningtown wishes to communicate deeply with his audience through his art and treasures their bond. He collaborates with various brands and media to expand his artistic boundaries, pursuing work that showcases his unique humor and personality.

작가는 유년 시절부터의 문화적 경험을 바탕으로 “굿모닝 타운"이라는 자신만의 세계관을 창작하였다. 그는 미술 고등학교를 졸업 한 후 패션과 타투에 관심을 갖게 되었으며, 이후 타투의 매력에 깊게 빠져 완전히 몰두하게 되었다. 타투이스트로서의 활동 중, 타투의 휘발성과 일시적인 특성을 느낀 작가는 더 오래 지속되고 자신의 진정한 감정을 표현해낼 수 있는 그림 작업을 선택하게 되었다. 

 

 굿모닝타운의 작품은 “대화" 이라는 주제를 관통한다. 친구들과의 대화에서 나타나는 랜덤한 주제 전환을 그림으로 표현하며, 그것에서 나타나는 불규칙성과 재미를 작품에 반영한다. 이러한 주제의 기원은 타투를 받는 고객들과의 소통, 그리고 대화의 시각적 표현에 대한 작가의 관심에서 시작되었다. 작가는 소재 선택에 있어 특정한 기준을 두지 않고, 대화의 다양성과 무작위성을 반영하여 즉흥적으로 떠오르는 아이디어나 주제들을 작품에 담아낸다. 예를 들어 햄버거와 같은 일상적인 요소들은 만화나 영화, 그리고 대화에서 영감을 받아 선택한다. 

 

작가의 캔버스 작업은 올드스쿨 타투의 작업 형식에서 영감을 받았다. 캔버스에 섬세하게 배치된 요소들은 마치 몸의 타투가 조화롭게 이어지듯, 일상 속 대화나 작가의 소중한 관심사를 은유적으로 반영한다. 그리고 그 작품 속에서는 과거 타투 작업의 흔적인 캐릭터들이 조화롭게 녹아있다. 작가는 아크릴을 주재료로 선정하였는데, 이는 그의 취미인 피규어의 부드러운 플라스틱 재질과의 연관성 때문이다. 그의 작업은  평면적이면서도 아크릴의 미세한 두께 조절로 입체감을 더해 부조의 형태로 표현되며, 마치 클라이밍 홀드나 쌓여있는 장난감처럼 보이기도 한다. 작가는 주제나 관심도에 따라 요소의 크기나 두께감을 다르게 표현하는데, 유사한 색상의 패턴은 대화 중 느껴지는 부드러움과 평온함을 상징하며, 작품의 전체적 분위기에 편안함을 부여하기도 한다.  

 

작가는 자신의 그림을 통해 관객과 깊고 자유로운 소통을 하길 희망하며, 이의 가치를 소중히 여긴다. 그는 다양한 분야와 매체와의 협업을 통해 예술세계를 확장하려는 노력을 지속하며, 뻔하지 않고 단순한 귀여움보다는 자신만의 유머와 개성이 담긴 작업을 추구하고 있다.
